The Hoyo du Maire is part of Le Hoyo Series and is of Small Panetela/Entreactos format, 30 ring gauge and 3.9 inches (100mm) in length. This cigar is part of the Le Hoyo series, a special series made for a Swiss distributor in the years 1940's and, as the cigars from this series, is pretty different than other Hoyo de Monterrey. The Hoyo du Maire, is a medium to full flavored cigar, with tobacco and wood as main flavors. There are also lots of toasted aromas, and notes of leather, cream and a bit of tea notes. Despite being a pretty short smoke, not more than half an hour, but still manages to provide the typical Cuban "twang" with a lot of complexity, while never being over powerful. The Juan Lopez Seleccion Especial is a La Casa Del Habano exclusive, a 6.75” (170mm) by 52 ring gauge, and comes in a humidor-like box of 25 cigars. Released in 2020 to celebrate Juan Lopez’ 150th anniversary and the 30th anniversary of La Casa del Habano franchise network. This is why this cigar stands out, with its highly lacquered luxury box which stays shut thanks to magnets. The vitola used for this Seleccion Especial is the very rarely used Fortuna, similar to a Double Robusto. The cigar is rolled to perfection and is medium bodied, offering plenty of wood, spices and other Cuban flavors. It goes very well next to a light lunch or as an early evening smoke. The Montecristo No.1 is of Lonsdale format, or Cervantes, 42 ring gauge and 6.5 inches (165mm) in length. As opposed to No.2 and the No.4, the No.1 is little known, and this is a shame because this little stogie packs a true Montecristo experience in a perfectly rolled cigar. It is also a pretty strong smoke, oscillating between a medium and a medium to full bodied cigar. It is nevertheless very creamy and smooth. There are lots of earth, cedar, tobacco flavors as you would expect from a Cuban cigar, but there are also many other flavors, such as strong nuts, all kind fruits, some citrus, chocolate, vanilla. Everything works well together; the balance of flavors is always under control. This is a cigar that worth a try, especially when it is 2 years of age. Learn More
