The H.Upmann Epicures is an affordable, bold and complex Short Panetela, 4.3” (110mm) long, of 35 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. This is a rather short smoke (less than an hour), that has the very DNA of H.Upmann, clean and strong tobacco flavor. This is no longer the Epicures that was machine made until 2002, it is hand rolled in a beautiful cigar. The size is optimal for a powerful cigar that develops manly taste, tobacco wood, leather. But there is also some cream, sweet notes of vanilla, honey, and some grassy notes. It is for sure one of the best Mareva out from Cuba, and definitely one of the strongest, along with the Montecristo No. 4. The Hoyo de Monterrey Hoyo Du Prince is a sweet and mild Corona, 5.1” (130mm) long, of 40 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. The Le Hoyo Series was created apart from the Hoyo de Monterrey line, this explains the difference in names and shapes of the cigars. The Le Hoyo cigars are thinner and they are slightly stronger than the regular Hoyo de Monterrey. The Hoyo du Prince hovers around a mild to medium, which main aromas are of wood, earth and leather. There is a lot of sweetness in the aromas, lots of creaminess, some honey, some nuts, and some fruit notes also add to the richness. The spices are also always present, but never too strongly, just a tingle on the lips. Overall a mild and rich cigar, perfect for a morning cigar. Pretty affordable. It is a smoke that offers typical Cuban flavors, wood, tobacco, strong leather, earthy tones, coupled with lots of soft spices and notes of cocoa, honey, nuts and hay. Thanks to its amazing construction, the draw is perfect all along; the burn line is sharp and generates a good amount of smoke. After being machine made until 2002, it is now fully hand rolled using short filler from tobacco blend from both Vuelta Abajo and Semi Vuelta regions.
