The Bolivar New Gold Medal LCDH is a 2023 La Casa Del Habano exclusive release. A Grand Corona of 6½” (165mm) by 48 ring gauge, and comes in a box of 10 cigars wrapped in gold foil. Sharing the same vitola as the Montecristo No.1 (Cervantes), the Bolivar Gold Medal was initially discontinued in 1992. However, it made a comeback in 2004 exclusively for La Casa Del Habano Germany, with only 1000 boxes produced. What used to be a machine made cigar until 2002 (slightly bigger in diameter), is now fully hand-rolled and it comes in between the Mille Fleur and the Petit Corona in term of classification. It packs lots of strength and flavor is relative short smoke (approx. 45 mins). There are the vigorous typical Partagas flavors, with lots of cedar, earth, salt, black coffee and some creamy notes as well. There is for sure lots of spice from pepper and cinnamon. Overall the cigar is a solid medium, which would pair beautifully with a smoky whiskey. The Partagas Presidentes is a beautiful and strong figurado, of Taco format, 47 ring gauge, 6.2” (158mm) long and comes in a box of 25 cigars. This figurado from Partagas is not very well known. This cigar is one of the rare competitors of the Cuabas. From its odd dimensions, close to a Julieta (same gauge but slightly shorter), it seems to be of strong flavor, and it is.
