Appearance:

The La Gloria Cubana Glorias LCDH is a brand-new vitola in the world of Habanos, called “Flecha”, a 6⅛” long (156mm) by 49 ring gauge. It comes in a beautiful lacquered box with a pearl white color on top and a very pleasant blue color all along its side. What sets it apart even further is the employment of the color blue for the box, a rarity in Habanos history. The only previous exception was the use of blue for the Partagas Linea Maestro series. Such originality makes the Flecha vitola a standout offering in the world of premium cigars. Adorned with an exquisitely artistic band featuring the La Gloria Cubana brand logo, this Habanos also boasts a second band denoting its exclusive availability, limited to La Casa del Habano stores worldwide. The wrapper of the Gloria Cubana Glorias showcases a stunning light brown hue, impeccably neat in appearance.

Smoking Notes:

Before lighting up

At cold, the wrapper on the Gloria emits enticing aromas of hay and tobacco.

Burn/ Draw

Upon making a clean cut, the Glorias offers a very good draw, striking the perfect balance between ease and resistance, resulting in a remarkably smooth smoking experience. As you indulge in the smoke, delightful delicate notes of cedar and walnuts start to reveal themselves.

Initial third:

Right after lighting up the cigar, this masterpiece offers a delightful aroma with hints of vanilla latte blending smoothly with delicate tobacco notes. A touch of sweetness reminiscent of toffee adds to the pleasure. The smoke in the mouth is dense, creating a luxurious sensation.

Initially, there's a slight presence of ammonia in the first few puffs, but as the flavor unfolds, it becomes much more enjoyable and smooth. The dominant creamy vanilla flavor with a subtle cedary spiciness on the back end creates a harmonious experience.

The ash stands out with its remarkable white layers intermingled with shades of gray, making it visually stunning. The construction is top-notch, with a firmly packed cigar and a flawless draw that adds to the enjoyment. The burn is even and well-maintained throughout the smoking experience.

The overall construction of this cigar is impressive, aligning with the excellent quality seen in newer Habanos releases since 2018. While there may have been a slightly bumpy start, the cigar recovered beautifully, showcasing the craftsmanship behind its creation.

Middle third:

Entering the second third, the ash takes on a much darker hue and becomes a bit flaky. As the Habano evolves, hints of spiciness emerge in the aftertaste, while the smoke remains remarkably smooth. However, there's an expectation that the cigar might develop more character as it progresses beyond the second third.

Reaching the halfway point, it becomes evident that this cigar requires further aging. Although the potential for a beautiful flavor profile is evident, it hasn't fully matured yet. Occasionally, glimpses of smooth, creamy vanilla, and slightly fruity notes appear. Cedar and spicy flavors, which are quintessential in Cuban cigars, also make their presence felt, but they seem overshadowed by a youthful harshness that's characteristic of a young cigar.

Final third:

As we reach the final third, the cigar reveals a bolder character, maintaining the presence of cedar and nutty flavors throughout this stage. There's a subtle spice that lingers, carrying over from the first third.

Approaching the last third, while there are moments where the cigar shines through with some of its delightful flavor notes, including nice fruity hints and a smooth creamy profile on the front end, these highlights are overshadowed by the fact that the cigar is not yet ready. It requires aging and would benefit from being set aside for a few years before it reaches its full potential.

The overall smoking experience has been excellent, showcasing a delightful evolution between each third. A very satisfying Habano which will only get better after some ageing.

Smoking time:

1 hour – 1 hour 30 minutes
