i smoked an open regata, it was a real fine smoke, very tasty, and a slow burn good to enjoy. I will definitely buy again. - Mild but full of flavour , 7/19/2014 By Rob

I bought these to try something different. For me they weren't great. I still prefer the No.4's over these. - For what it is, these are a great deal... , 2/21/2012 By SmokingCCs

I am going to give this one another try after a few months. This is the only cigar from the open series worth visiting. Earthy with woodsy finish. A couple of changes which shows promise. The last third the flavors really take a turn for the better, that Montecristo No. 2 sweetness with coco develops. For the majority of the stick, the changes are very mild and similar to an aged stick without the finesse and complexity. Fresh they're full med in body, with time these usually mellow out into a nice summer smoke mild to med strength with subtle flavors mentioned before. The box received was another '11 and for a stick that's this fresh smoked very good. Construction is beautiful and draw was good but slightly tight. The solution was to cut down the tip a bit more. For what it is and the lowered price-point, these are a great deal and size is perfect. - A New Contender With A Big Heart , 8/21/2011 By PollyWolly (The Cigar Bird)

To date, the entire Open line from Montecristo has not had many complimentary reviews since their initial debut. I am not aware of what transpired with the first shipments of cigars to hit the market, but the ones coming now are certainly worthy of much more than just complimentary words.
They are now creating a niche for themselves that will prove to be a real success for Montecristo. Priced right, built solid with exceptional tasting tobacco, shaped into downright inviting sizes, these cigars are proving to be notable additions to the list of great Habanos.
The popularity of these cigars among the majority of my Cuban cigar smoking friends is becoming something on the nature of cult status. WE ALL LOVE THESE CIGARS!
They have a taste of freshness, yet they still retain that Cuban goodness that is unique to the Habanos we love. That taste of freshness reminds one of drinking Columbian coffee that is easy to drink and not encumbered with bitter oils or overly acidic. Just the pure, sweet taste of coffee.
That is the experience you get with this cigar; the sweet, pure taste of unadulterated tobacco that has somehow discharged all the impurities that can linger in the aftertaste. These are definitely mild and enjoyable cigars that offer so much more than what has been bestowed on them so far.
My last order consisted of five boxes of the Regatta size, one box each of the Eagle and Master. I guess you could say that I am one guy who really puts his money where his mouth is...
