Montecristo No.4 - 25 cigars [5.1" x 42]

The Montecristo No.4 is full of flavor, warm and mellow when properly aged.

  • • The thin ring gauge means this is a very direct and rapid burn and its responsiveness does not wane as it burns.
  • • A rich and exciting blend like this needs some age to be at its best.

Wonderful tastes throughout to delight the palate. Always a consistent burn and draw.

Appearance:

The Montecristo No. 4 is a very well constructed, very firm and well packed. Incredibly beautiful maduro wrapper, oily and silky.

Smoking Notes:

Before lighting up

The cigar is very well constructed, very firm and well packed. Smooth, oily, chocolate wrapper, with little veins. Semi-box pressed with a lightly colored wrapper and nice cap.

Burn/ Draw

The cigar lights up very easily. The draw is on the firm side, as expected from the beginning, but it's not unpleasant. Razor sharp burn.

Initial third:

It is medium bodied in the beginning, with strong taste of earth and wood, with hints of spice.

Middle third:

The cigar loads the palate with nutty notes and a hint of graham cracker. The draw is slightly looser, but still firm. The flavors are more complex, with the earthy flavor being more intense. The tones of creamy coffee and caramel appear.

Final third:

Spice, wood, cocoa and fruits, all well balanced, deliver full and balanced creamy flavors. A lot of aging potential.

In summary: completely full Cuban flavors of mocha and spicy robust zest.

Smoking time:

45 - 60 Minutes

Yummy short smoke. , 11/11/2021

The number 4 is a beautiful smoke. The draw was good, the burn ok... had to touch up twice, the flavor was very nice... rich tobacco with cocoa and chocolate, smoked to fast and left me wanting to fire up another.

The batch I got had some quality issues - tight draw, uneven burn - but that's gone away some since giving them some quality humidor time. Great Montecristo flavor spectrum and a good 45-min smoke. Perfect for that summer evening patio time.

I got a box of these recently, my first CT order. The box was dated a year earlier, and arrived in perfect condition. Thanks, CT! After a month resting in my humidor, I smoked two of them over the past few days, with consistent notes. The cigars drew easily from start to finish, with a slow, even burn. The taste was creamy and smooth, with an aroma reminiscent of new-mown hay. In the first third, a high palate spiciness built, until it coated my palate in the second third. With one of the cigars, a remarkable sweetness emerged. I imagine this nuance will grow with age. Both were delicious, and I stretched them out to 40 minutes with no relighting. The smooth aftertaste lingered a couple of hours. Lovely 30-40 minute cigars, aperitifs.
Great Cubans , 11/2/2020

I went to Cuba two years ago and brought a couple of these boxes back with me. When I only had about 10 cigars left I started scouring the Internet for actual Cuban cigars because I liked them so much. These arrived when I still had a couple cigars that I was certain came from Cuba, and I compared the ones I got from this site to the ones I got from Cuba to make sure I wasn’t getting ripped off. They tasted and smoked the exact same! And, even better, this box isn’t actually that much more expensive than the ones in Cuba, with each cigar costing a little over 1$ more per cigar. In sum, these are great, reasonably priced, authentic Cubans.
