Reviewer MWaller nailed it. These taste terrible off the truck. But after a few short months in the humidor, OMG! What an awesome Cigar. And you get 50 of them for a very, very good price.

I guess this "taste terrible off the truck" phenomenon applies to a lot of cigars after shipping. I've learned to keep a stash of stogies that have been in the humidor for a few months so that I won't be tempted to smoke the new incomings. Smoking the cigars within a few days of receiving them is really such a waste of money and can give you a bad impression of some amazing cigars. Even the best cigars can taste just horrible the first few days after delivery. But a month or two later, they revert to their true nature--that of amazing, delicious Cuban cigars.

Strangely, not every cigar suffers from shipping. Two that come to mind are the Cohiba Esplendido and the Pargagas Lusitania. For some reason, I can smoke these almost right out of the shipping box and they taste very close to their true flavor. But the large majority of smokes taste awful, and are virtually unsmokeable within the first week or so. And that is true of these Por Larranagas. But man, when they get a chance to breathe a little, the transformation is awesome.
