Presentation
The Punch Double Coronas - 25 Cigars comes in a dress box with Habanos Packing Code CB-UW-C/L-12,13-n-25
Dimensions:
Length: 194 mm
Diameter: 19.45 mm
Ring gauge: 49
Shape: Double Corona/Prominente
Appearance:
The Punch Double Coronas is a massive cigar, with perfect construction; the wrapper is veinless, fairly oily, has a nice dark brown color. It is pretty smooth to the touch whereas a bit bumpy here and there. Between the fingers, the cigar is tightly packed and firm when squeezed, with just a slight give.
Smoking Notes:
Before lighting up
The wrapper has a strong smell of sweet tobacco and hints of barnyard. It is rather salty on the lips.
Burn/ Draw
Once cut, the draw is slightly tight but good overall. The cold draw reveals some cedar aromas, some sweetness, almost cake-like, some nuts, mostly peanut and hints of spices. Upon lighting the cigar, a good amount of smoke is released, the burn is a bit wavy, but self-corrects after few puffs. The first flavors to come to the palate are of wood and leather.
Initial third:
The cigar starts with mild flavors of wood, some black-cherry aromas and some spices. There are also lots of nutty flavors, some walnut, peanut, some toasty tobacco, some citrus and sweet bread notes. On the finish, there are some sweet aromas of toffee and caramel. Towards the end of the first third, some grassiness is appearing, as well as some flavors of leather, vanilla and fruits. The cigar is burning very well, the burn line is good, and the draw opens up a bit. The amount of smoke is good, and is very creamy. The ash is looking good and is pretty firm. Overall, the first third is starting in the mild medium range and ends up just a notch over medium body.
Middle third:
In the middle third, the draw is now very smooth, simply amazing, there is much more smoke after each puff. The flavor profile doesn't change too much, there is now more nuttiness, more grassiness and also more sweetness (more toffee). Some flavors are appearing, coffee, earth, green pepper. There is just a bit of bitterness and tannins, but overall the cigar is very creamy. It is becoming slightly milder and smoother.
Final third:
In the final third, the cigar picks up in strength, but still smoking well. The nuttiness aromas tend to be toastier, there is more coffee, also more sweetness. There is still some tea and some cedar. The peanut aromas last long on the after taste. It is still very creamy and sweet. It is enjoyable until the nub.
In summary, it is a great and long cigar that has character, maybe the best Prominente. It full bodied and presents a great complexity.
Smoking time:
1 hour 30 minutes - 2 hours

A true classic
, - An elegant and truly classic Cuban cigar. Perfectly balanced with notes of butter and cream on the finish with mild cedar undertones. Put the full box down for a deep sleep in a humidor for 3-4 years of aging before smoking, as these Double Coronas really benefit from having some age on them.

Another knockout experience delivered from Punch!
, - Cigar Terminal is the best! Outstanding customer service delivering genuine Cuban cigars. I managed to get a 3 year old box, and there was some damage, which Cigar Terminal immediately made right. These are truly magnificent specimens to behold. A great after dinner cigar in front of the fire place, or great one for the golf course. Make sure you have some time on your hand for this one. It started out with a creamy earthy flavor, and went on to hints of peanuts and chocolate. This cigar stays in the medium range until the final third when it finishes strong with loads of flavor. Definitely an experience to remember.

Great Smoke
, - Love the earthy taste with hints of nuts. Great smoke when I have the time after dinner. They are a very consistent smoke lately which is a bonus. They are definitely one of my favourite cigars.

Hard to put down
, -
The best cigar I have tried in my limited experience. I was lucky enough to receive a June, 2014 box, so over 3 years of age already. I made sure to wait about a month and let it settle in the humidor before I tried my first one.
Once lit, you can already taste the difference aging makes. I had a Partagas Double Corona that was from July 2016 and flavor was completely lacking, specially in the first third of the cigar. I intend to let these cigars sit and only smoke them on special occasions while the rest of my stash gets to the appropriate age. These larger cigars really benefit from at least 2-3 years of aging to really enjoy their potential. -

Got a 2014 box! NICE!
, - Got a 2014 Box, it'll be 3 years old in June this year. Which is perfect because I want to rest these for a few months before I taste them to get a perfect baseline. Cigar Terminal send fast and provided a Boveda bag, legit cigars and excellent service
