Established in the roaring 20’s, Rafael González brand was first marketed as La Flor de Marquez, and was the first marca to develop the Lonsdale vitola with the Cervantes (now discontinued). The Lonsdale gets its name from Hugh Cecil Lowther, the Fifth Earl of Lonsdale, a famous British sportsman and cigar lover. Rafael González is known for hand rolling medium bodied cigars using long filler (Tripa larga, Totalmente a Mano). Its best sellers are the Rafael Gonzalez Perlas, the Rafael Gonzalez Petit Coronas and the Rafael Gonzalez Panetelas Extra.

The Rafael González Coronas de Lonsdales is presented in a semi-boite nature box containing 10 Habanos, entirely handmade with long filler, following a meticulous selection of leaves sourced from the Vuelta Abajo region, renowned for producing the world's finest tobacco. $219.00The Rafael Gonzalez Perlas is a Cuban beauty, a medium-full bodied Petit Corona, 4" (102mm) long, of 40 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. One of the most recent cigars of the Rafael Gonzalez lineup, (released in 2011), and is a pretty short smoke, perfect for a morning break. Its construction is great; it's perfectly rolled and feels nice between the fingers. It smokes beautifully, rather slowly and has a nice creamy profile but also develops some powerful woody aromas. There are also some creamy aromas, some coffee, some spices from pepper and some berries touches. The finish is long, with vanilla and some floral aftertaste. The Rafael Gonzalez Panetelas Extra is a hidden gem, a medium Short Panetela, 5’ (127mm) long, of 36 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. This cigar has been around since the 1930’s, and like other cigars from Rafael Gonzalez it is very smooth and mild, using only tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region. Medium body at its peak, its delivers mostly smooth aromas of chocolate, coffee and of amazing tobacco. There are also notes of almond, earth, wood, bread and some floral characteristics.
