Appearance:
The Linea de Oro Nobles come in a refined wooden cabinet which stands out from the regular boxes coming from Cuba. The box has been crafted in sycamore wood and painted in red-brown color, with a high gloss lacquer finish. A golden medallion depicting the famous Romeo and Juliet balcony scene is also depicted on top of the humidor. The lower edge of the lid is also painted in gold. The box reflects the high quality and attention that Habanos dedicated to this new top-end of the Romeo and Julieta line. The cigars are impeccable and are as close to perfection as possible. Each cigar is embellished by a golden foot band which underlines the special status of these cigars. The cigar band is also different from the regular Romeo y Julieta brand, this band is much larger and in full gold color. The band bears the brand logo as well as the words “Linea de Oro” and the name of the vitola. This vitola is called Triangulares, also known as Piramide or Torpedo, with on the largest a large ring gauge of 56, and is 135 millimeter long. The cigars are rolled with tobacco entirely grown in the Cuban premium region, Vuelta Abajo. Each cigar is extremely well rolled, with a perfect triple cap and no apparent vein on the Colorado wrappers.
Smoking Notes:
Before lighting up
At cold, very sweet and complex notes can be detected from the wrapper. On the foot, it is mostly caramel, cedar and some spices.
Burn/ Draw
Once we cut off the beautiful triple cap, the Nobles offers a very good draw. Once it is lit, the first flavors are typical Romeo y Julieta however it is stronger than a regular Romeo y Julieta cigar, well into the medium body level. A rather strong tobacco taste is the dominant flavor, and the overall feeling is very good so far.
Initial third:
Right from the beginning, the Nobles reveals itself as a perfectly constructed cigar, with not much acidity despite its young age. The body is well above the medium mark all along the first third. Apart from a delicious tobacco flavor, the other noticeable flavors are toast, cedar, roasted coffee beans. The draw is effortless and the ash builds up in beautiful dark gray concentric rings at the foot.
Middle third:
Towards the end of the first third, the ash finally falls off and reveals a perfect cone at the foot, testament of the amazing quality of work in Cuba. The flavors are becoming more complex, which is a welcome surprise for a Romeo y Julieta cigar. The strength is now hovering around the medium to full mark.
Final third:
In the final part of the cigar, the Romeo y Julieta Nobles is still very satisfying and enjoyable. It is one of these few cigars that can burn your fingers when you finally have to let it go. The draw and construction remained exceptional d
In short, the Romeo y Julieta Nobles, as the other 2 cigars from the Linea de Oro, is an exceptional cigar which appeals to every cigar aficionado.
