Trinidad La Trova LCDH - 12 cigars [6.55" x 52]
First Habanos cigar of “Cañonazo Especial” vitola since the Cohiba 1966, a Limited Edition from 2011, meaning that it is a cigar that will last for about 1.5 hours.
- • As expected from a Trinidad cigar, perfect construction, great flavors.
- • Medium - Strong cigar but never harsh, very creamy overall.
Despite being still a young cigar (The box we smoked was from Nov 2017), it smokes great and has lots of potential.
Presentation
Trinidad La Trova LCDH comes in a Semi Boite Nature Box of 12 cigars with Habanos Packing Code SBN-VW-n-6-n-12
Dimensions:
Length: 166mm (6 5/9 inches)
Diameter: 20.06mm
Ring gauge: 52
Shape: Cañonazo Especial / Double Robusto
Appearance:
The construction of the La Trova is sublime with no soft spots, well packed from the head to the feet. The wrapper is silky smooth, with a great looking Colorado - claro light brown color, as you would expect from any Trinidad. Despite being a long cigar, there is only a few amount of tiny veins running down the wrapper, and it is complemented with the traditional Trinidad pig-tail at the head. Being a La Casa del Habano exclusive release, the La Trova sports a secondary LCDH band.
Smoking Notes:
Before lighting up
Upon opening the box, a very distinctive smell of fresh hay reaches the nostrils. The wrapper smells of sweet cedar with hints of raisin at cold. The cold draw is good, and tastes of light cedar.
Burn/ Draw
Easy to light up, as expected the Trinidad La Trova burns perfectly throughout. No issues with the draw or the burn. The ashes build up for a good inch and a half then falls off. Every puff releases a voluminous cloud of thick velvety smoke.
Initial third:
The first few puffs are very creamy and mellow, without any very distinctive flavors. It starts a light to medium level. Soon some woody flavors arise, with some roasted nuts alongside, reminiscent of roasted almonds. There are no fruity flavors so far, but rather some peppery notes of white pepper and some touches of coffee. Overall, the smoke is very woody, leathery, typical Trinidad with the expected notes of fresh tobacco. It is a very good start for a young cigar, the flavors are all well balanced.
Middle third:
In the second part of the cigar, the intensity picks up a bit, there is more leather but the cigar remains quite smooth without rough edges. It is still a delightful medium smoke at this point with more flavors. The nuttiness is well present, with some toasted almonds and a few hints of raisin type flavors, but no overall sweetness.
Final third:
The La Trova gets a little bit stronger in the last third, being now somewhere between a medium-to-strong cigar. It really shows is true Trinidad character. Even more leather now, with some earthiness. Without being very complex, it is a really smooth smoke that doesn’t burn hot even towards the nub, which is well welcomed for a young cigar. A lot of potential for aging.
In summary: an amazing new release from Trinidad. A very smooth smoke that will only get better with time.
Smoking time:
90 - 120 Minutes

Dreamer
, - A mild smooth profile with hints of creaminess. Nice flavor with an ideal draw. Each segment of the cigar produced long lengths of ash consistently. Strength builds to a medium toward the cigar band. The smoking experience was so pleasing, one day I dreamed the afternoon away with one of these beauties.

Great cigar!
, - I love anything Trinidad. They are my go-to cigar. This particular size is my "celebration" cigar. The cigar I go to when I have had an extremely good day, or after a special occasion. They don't come along often, it seems, but when they do I will jump on it and save them for special. Out of the last box, I've only smoked 3 so far after months in the humidor.

Lite But Very Complex And Balanced
, - I'd say medium body and light strength the whole way through. The box was beautiful and construction was spot on CT did a great job! Overall Trinidad DNA but on steroids. Honey, Little Wood, Grassy taste. Definitely a night ending cigar for me because of the size.
