Appearance:
The cigar is looking great, almost perfect. The nice box-press makes it almost square. It has a beautiful medium brown color, like milk chocolate. It is very smooth to the touch, one of the smoothest Habanos, thanks to its velvety and slightly oily wrapper. Only very few tiny veins or marks are visible. It is mostly firm when squeezed with just enough give on the foot.

The wrapper smells of chocolate and hay.
Burn/ Draw
Once cut, the draw is amazing and remains like it throughout the whole cigar, surprising for a cigar of this format. The burn is sharp right from the start, doesn’t require any touch ups. The cigar burns slowly and never gets too hot. It produces an abundant amount of smoke.
Initial third:
The first third of the cigar is incredibly smooth with lots of creamy flavors. There is some pepper at the beginning, soon joined by some coffee taste, with touches of milk. The flavors evolve, first to a much sweeter profile, with milk-chocolate then to a deeper and richer profile, full of dark chocolate, leather. In the end of the third, the cocoa notes are fading away, leaving opportunity to taste some black cherries. Overall, it is a mild and smooth cigar, very well blended, sitting at a medium body range.
Middle third:
In the middle third, the flavors increased as well as the body and the strength of the cigar, closer to a medium to full body now. The dominant flavors are still of creamy coffee and other flavors join the mix, some earth, some nuts, almost like roasted almond. There is less chocolate now, but there are still some savory notes of dark chocolate. The flavors are stronger in intensity but there is no harshness at all, the smoke is still silky smooth.
Final third:
In the final third, the flavor profile remains similar, with the addition of more spice, more chocolate and still lots of creamy coffee and black cherries. The smoke is still very smooth and still a medium-full body.
In summary, it is a great cigar that provides a great mix of flavors, with plenty of mocha/coffee flavors, starting very mellow and ending much stronger.

A rather light Double Corona able to deliver some very good when for example Alejandro (the late boss of the brand) knew who you were and wanted to please you...
Aging potential, is not bad. The ligada is very different from each other puro of the brand. The cigar matches after a lunch or any time you want to smoke a Prominente but not after a heavy diner. This puro could be compared with the Hoyo of the same size. This new product, at least in the small serie of the Double Corona, is a success. -

Being one of the largest Habanos produced in Cuba is just one credit in the long list of merits for this monumental cigar.
Also, as one of the best tasting cigars on the planet, this is sheer heaven to smoke and coddle for the almost hour and half it takes to put one of these big brutes to bed.
But, take notice! This is very much the proverbial Lion with Satin Jaws. The size, along with the weighty feel of this cigar, is soon overshadowed by the lush, creamy stream of smoke that delivers a satin-like quality to the senses, assuring friendliness and ultimately bringing happiness and complete tranquility.
This is a really complex cigar with all the fine qualities to be found in a Habano of this stature. All the tasting notes are secondary, as you will definitely enjoy this cigar no matter what! But I do offer the following:
Buttery and semi-sweet to the palate, with an occasional tease of milk chocolate to balance things, it works the mouth while it continues to lavish its goodness to the frequent sniff of air you will relish. This is the quintessential Habano times ten!
Hands down, this is one of the top ten Habanos that is available today. My suggestion: buy a box and stash it away from daily temptation, and draw from it only for those special occasions when you deserve a special treat. Unless you are Al Pacino, then I suppose you could smoke them anytime you wanted.
