In 2012 Hoyo de Monterrey, one of the oldest Habanos brand, decided to launch an exclusive line for La casa del Habano, and released the Epicure de Luxe. It is only using tobacco from the most valuable area in Cuba, the famous Vuelta Abajo. This smoke packs all the typical Hoyo de Monterrey’s flavours into a small yet exclusive cigar, that is comparable to the 2012 Limited Editions, but which is cheaper than these. The construction is superb, it is fully handmade, its high level of quality is on par with any cigar out of La Casa del Habanos. On the flavor profile, it is rather light in taste yet shows a great level of complexity and control of aromas. Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo du Maire SLB - 25 cigars
299,00 $The Hoyo du Maire is part of Le Hoyo Series and is of Small Panetela/Entreactos format, 30 ring gauge and 3.9 inches (100mm) in length. This cigar is part of the Le Hoyo series, a special series made for a Swiss distributor in the years 1940's and, as the cigars from this series, is pretty different than other Hoyo de Monterrey. The Hoyo du Maire, is a medium to full flavored cigar, with tobacco and wood as main flavors. There are also lots of toasted aromas, and notes of leather, cream and a bit of tea notes. Despite being a pretty short smoke, not more than half an hour, but still manages to provide the typical Cuban "twang" with a lot of complexity, while never being over powerful. 269,00 $The Partagas Petit Coronas Especiales is a short and medium delicacy, of Mareva format, 42 ring gauge, 5.2” (132mm) long and comes in a box of 25 cigars. What used to be a machine made cigar until 2002 (slightly bigger in diameter), is now fully hand-rolled and it comes in between the Mille Fleur and the Petit Corona in term of classification. It packs lots of strength and flavor is relative short smoke (approx. 45 mins). There are the vigorous typical Partagas flavors, with lots of cedar, earth, salt, black coffee and some creamy notes as well. There is for sure lots of spice from pepper and cinnamon. Overall the cigar is a solid medium, which would pair beautifully with a smoky whiskey.
