The H.Upmann Connossieur No.2 is a 2020 release, a medium-full bodied 5.25” (134 mm) by 51, and comes in a box of 25 cigars. It is the only Habanos cigar which has a ring gauge of 51. The factory name is known as Bohemios in Cuba and it was first presented in Germany in late 2020. Released only in few central European countries, this cigar will definitely please all amateurs of the other Connossieur from the marca H.Upmann. The Romeo y Julieta Linea de Oro Hidalgos, part of the new top tier segment of the brand, is a delicious Robusto, which comes in a box of 20 cigars. The “Linea de Oro”, literally the “golden line” in Spanish is the pendant of the Maduro 5 line for the Cohiba, the top of the crop among the Romeo y Julieta brand, launched to celebrate the brand's 145th anniversary. Habanos released three totally new cigars, which are among the biggest ring gauge cigars available among Habanos, the Hidalgos, the Nobles and Dianas. The Hidalgos vitola (also called Hidalgos), is 57 ring gauge by 4 ⅞ inches and, as the other two, comes in a refined high lacquered box of 20 cigars. One can right away see that these cigars are different from the regular production line, as the box is painted in a very elegant red and gold colors, adorned with an embossed golden medallion on the lid, representing the classic balcony scene. Each cigar comes with a specific Linea de Oro band with the name of the cigar as well as a secondary golden band at the foot. The Hidalgos, Nobles and Dianas are all stronger than the regular Romeo y Julieta cigars, their strength around medium to full. The Saint Luis Rey Pura Vida is a 2020 Costa Rica Exclusive Regional Edition cigar, a 4.72” (120 mm) by 54 ring gauge, and comes in a box of 10 cigars. Only 6,000 boxes have been made in Cuba, so it is a cigar that will be hard to find very shortly. Similar in size as the previous Costa Rica and Nicaragua Regional Exclusive Habano in 2017 (the Ramon Allones Nuevo Mundo), it is of Magnum 54 vitola, a highly praised format in the region. Named Pura Vida after the popular local saying that is used to wish someone’s happiness at the end or at the beginning of a conversation. Entirely hand rolled with tobacco grown in the Vuelta Abajo region, this is a beautiful cigar, very comparable to the highly acclaimed and now discontinued Saint Luis Rey Serie A. The Pura Vida will certainly get even better after some aging, so do not miss your chance to get this little gem while available.
