Piedra has been making cigars since over 100 years when it was first founded by the Vicente and José Piedra brothers, using tobacco grown in the Remedios region, grown for domestic consumption in Cuba. Originally machine-made cigars, José L. Piedra cigars are now made using the Tripa Corta, Totalmente a Mano technique (totally handmade, using short filler tobacco) creating medium to full flavored cigars. The best selling vitolas are the José L. Piedra Brevas, José L. Piedra Cazadores and José L. Piedra Conservas.
