Established in 1876 in Havana, Cuba, Juan López get its name from his founder Juan López Diaz. The production of only handmade cigars continued until the Cuba Revolution, which has then been transferred to La Habana factory in Havana. Juan López cigars are generally to be considered to be medium to strong in flavor and the best selling vitolas are the Juan López Seleccion No.1 and the Juan López Seleccion No.2.
There is also a Hondurian Juan Lopez cigar brand that was started after the Cuban revolution. However, the original brand is CubanJuan Lopez that is mentioned here.

The Juan Lopez Petit Coronas is a rich and smooth medium Habanos of Petit Corona format, 5.1” (129mm) long, of 42 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. It’s neither the most famous Petit Coronas from Habanos SA for sure, nor the prettiest looking. However, it is a very affordable stogie that is very pleasant to smoke. It is a smoke that offers typical Cuban flavors, wood, tobacco, strong leather, earthy tones, coupled with lots of soft spices and notes of cocoa, honey, nuts and hay. Thanks to its amazing construction, the draw is perfect all along; the burn line is sharp and generates a good amount of smoke. The Juan Lopez Seleccion Especial is a La Casa Del Habano exclusive, a 6.75” (170mm) by 52 ring gauge, and comes in a humidor-like box of 25 cigars. Released in 2020 to celebrate Juan Lopez’ 150th anniversary and the 30th anniversary of La Casa del Habano franchise network. This is why this cigar stands out, with its highly lacquered luxury box which stays shut thanks to magnets. The vitola used for this Seleccion Especial is the very rarely used Fortuna, similar to a Double Robusto. The cigar is rolled to perfection and is medium bodied, offering plenty of wood, spices and other Cuban flavors. It goes very well next to a light lunch or as an early evening smoke.
