Established in 1834 in Havana, Cuba by Ignacio Larrañaga, Por Larrañaga is surely one of the oldest cigar maker still in activity today. Before the Cuban revolution, it was one of the biggest cigar factory in Cuba. It was also the first Cuban cigar factory to manufacture machine-made cigars, which was not popular among Cuban factory workers. However, since 2002, Por Larrañaga only rolls handmade cigars with tobacco from the premium Vuelta Abajo region and its most successful vitolas are the Por Larranaga Panetelas, the Por Larranaga Petit Coronas and the Por Larranaga Picadores. It is generally accepted that the Por Larranaga cigars are medium strength. There is also a Dominican Por Larranaga cigar brand that was started after the Cuban revolution. However, the original brand is Cuban Por Larranaga that is mentioned here.
