Appearance:
The cigar comes in an elegant green aluminum and it is always a pleasure to open the tube and smell the cigar's cedar aroma. The wrapper is looking great, a bit rustic though, with some slight bump and few prominent veins, but the quality of rolling in flawless. The triple cap is beautiful and virtually seamless. It has a nice Colorado color, with a bit of a red tone. It feels smooth in hand and evenly packed from the foot to the head.
Smoking Notes:
Before lighting up
The wrapper smells of nice tobacco, with some beautiful cedar aroma, and some notes of herbs and barnyard.
Burn/ Draw
Once cut, the draw is on the tight side, but pretty good overall, since it is opening as the cigar goes. The first draws give a lot of pleasant creaminess and smoothness. The aroma is toasted tobacco, and some spice. The burn line is good and doesn't require any attention.
Initial third:
The first third of the cigar is dominated by the same aromas from the first draws, toasty tobacco with the addition of strong woodsy aromas, mostly cedar. There are also some spices, white pepper, and some fruit notes, as sour cherry, black currant, cinnamon, vanilla and also dark chocolate. The aromas are very creamy and smooth, but the spiciness is slowly picking up during the first third, but nothing overpowering.
Middle third:
In the middle third, the spices have subsided a bit, the creaminess is still there, but the dominant aromas are of cedar and earth. There are also notes of graham cracker. The cigar is still very smooth. The burn still doesn't require any attention, and the ash is holding as well as a small ring gauge cigar can
Final third:
The final third of the cigar is the most interesting and enjoyable. The flavor profile is dominated by a light woodsy note; the whole cigar is still very creamy. The Punch Coronations is definitely a medium body cigar.
In summary, it is a very well-balanced cigar, oscillating between creaminess and spices. A pretty complex cigar despite being its short size.
Smoking time:
40 – 60 Minutes
