Quai D'Orsay

Quai D'Orsay

Year of foundation: 1970
Tobacco Country: Cuba
Tobacco Procedence: Vuelta Abajo
Factory: Romeo y Julieta

Created in 1973 in Cuba, the Quai D'Orsay brand was originally only crafting milder than usual cigars for the French market and the French state tobacco monopoly SEITA (Société Nationale d'Exploitation Industrielle de Tabac et Allumettes). Two theories can explain the origin of the name of the brand, one theory is that it comes from the nickname of the French Foreign Ministry or perhaps more likely the SEITA headquarters which are both located on the same named street on the Seine riverside in Paris. The Quai d’Orsay cigars are renowned to be milder than the other Cuban cigars, and the most famous vitola is the Corona Claro. In the last few years, the brand was relaunched with a redesign, new bands and 2 more cigars: the Quai d’Orsay No.50 and the Quai d’Orsay No.54, which follow the trend of what the aficionados are looking for, shorter cigars with larger ring gauge.
