The Hoyo du Maire is part of Le Hoyo Series and is of Small Panetela/Entreactos format, 30 ring gauge and 3.9 inches (100mm) in length. This cigar is part of the Le Hoyo series, a special series made for a Swiss distributor in the years 1940's and, as the cigars from this series, is pretty different than other Hoyo de Monterrey. The Hoyo du Maire, is a medium to full flavored cigar, with tobacco and wood as main flavors. There are also lots of toasted aromas, and notes of leather, cream and a bit of tea notes. Despite being a pretty short smoke, not more than half an hour, but still manages to provide the typical Cuban "twang" with a lot of complexity, while never being over powerful. The Jose L. Piedra Petit Caballeros is an amazing Corona Extra, 4.75” by 48, rolled with short-filler and comes in a bundle of 12 cigars. Released in 2020, it is the latest release from the Jose L. Piedra brand before the planned makeover of the brand by Habanos. Among a redesign of the logo and the band, Habanos is also moving away from the 25 cigars bundle in preference to a 12 cigars bundle. The vitola used for this cigar is called Hermoso Especial, only used before for the 2017 Punch Regios de Punch Edición Limitada. The Montecristo Media Corona is a medium-full short Habano, a Half-Corona, 3.5” (90mm) long, of 44 ring gauge, and comes in a box of 25 cigars. As other newer cigars, Habanos released this very short vitola (the shortest hand rolled cigar along with the H Upmann Half Corona), that fits perfectly the need for customers to enjoy a Cuban cigar in a short time. This vitola is totally hand made with long filler, using leaves from Vuelta Abajo, known for producing the best tobacco leaves in the world, in the region of Pinar del Rio.
