The Romeo y Julieta Club Kings is a medium Petit Corona cigar of 42 ring gauge, part of the Habanos Línea Retro series announced in 2017. Initially planned in 2011, it was finally released in 2018 after years of waiting. The original Club King from Romeo y Julieta was discontinued in the 1980s to the dismay of many aficionados. The Romeo y Julieta Cedros De Luxe No.3 is a smooth and rich Petit Corona Habano, 5.1” (129mm) long, of 42 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. It comes wrapped in a thin cedar tube sporting the usual Romeo y Julieta band. A pretty underrated cigar, but favored by Cuban aficionados that like it when it is aged. Lots cedar flavors, leather and nice white pepper notes. It has a great construction, perfect draw, and burn. The Romeo y Julieta Belvederes a lovely medium bodied Habano, of short panetela format, with 39 ring gauge, 4.9” (125mm) long and comes in a box of 25 cigars. It is of great construction, hand rolled using only premium tobacco grown in the best tobacco growing region of Vuelta Abajo in Cuba. It packs all the typical Romeo y Julieta flavors, lots of wood and cedar, floral notes and plenty of spices and pepper. The smoke is very round, doesn’t have rough edges never aggressive. Released in 2020, the Ramon Allones No.2 is a 2019 Edición Limitada, an elegant 5.5” (140mm) by 52 ring gauge, and comes in a luxury box of 10 cigars. Revealed at the XXI Festival del Habano in 2019, among the Montecristo Supremos and Quai d’Orsay Senadores, it was only released virtually in late 2020 for some selected guests. The guests had each received an individual gift bag including the cigar, a mini bottle of cognac, a cognac glass and three selected chocolates, which would beautifully pair with the Ramon Allones No.2. The cigars have all been hand rolled with tobacco leaves which have been aged for 2 to 5 years, instead of being rolled with regular tobacco leaves and then aged in their boxes, which gave more time to the flavors No.2 to develop and get richer. The flavors are typical Ramon Allones, reminiscent of the Specially Selected but with some nutiness and more sweetness than the regular production cigar. It is also more powerful than the Specially Selected, a medium to full body cigar and full flavored. The vitola used for the Ramon Allones No.2 is the Campanas, similar to the acclaimed Bolivar Belicosos Finos, which was used only once before for a Ramon Allones when they released the Ramon Allones Belicosos Finos exclusively for the UK market in 2005. Once released in stores, the Ramon Allones No.2 comes in a beautiful green lacquered box with a raised top, which is very different visually from other Edición Limitadas or any other Habanos releases and would magnificently complement the aficionado’s humidor. As many Edición Limitada, the No.2 will surely become a future classic in the next 2 to 5 years, try one out and you will know why.
