The Romeo y Julieta Linea de Oro Nobles, part of the new top tier segment of the brand, is a delightful Pyramid, which comes in a box of 20 cigars. The “Linea de Oro”, literally the “golden line” in Spanish is the pendant of the Maduro 5 line for the Cohiba, the top of the crop among the Romeo y Julieta brand, launched to celebrate the brand's 145th anniversary. Habanos released three totally new cigars, which are among the biggest ring gauge cigars available among Habanos, the Hidalgos, the Nobles and Dianas. The Nobles vitola is called a Triangulares, 56 ring gauge by 5 ⅜ inches and, as the other two, comes in a refined high lacquered box of 20 cigars. One can right away see that these cigars are different from the regular production line, as the box is painted in a very elegant red and gold colors, adorned with an embossed golden medallion on the lid, representing the classic balcony scene. Each cigar comes with a specific Linea de Oro band with the name of the cigar as well as a secondary golden band at the foot. The Hidalgos, Nobles and Dianas are all stronger than the regular Romeo y Julieta cigars, their strength around medium to full. The Romeo y Julieta Mille Fleurs is a great and an accessible petit corona, with 42 ring gauge, 5.1” (129mm) long and comes in a box of 25 cigars. It is fully handmade since 2002, and it packs all the typical Romeo y Julieta flavors (floral characteristics, cedar with hints of sweetness) in a short smoke (about an hour of smoking time). It similar to the Petit Coronas from the same brand, and full of flavors. It has obviously some familiarity with the other Marevas from Romeo y Julieta. The Romeo y Julieta No.3 is a complex and mild-medium Coronitas, 4’6” (117mm) long, of 40 ring gauge, and comes in aluminum tubes in a 25 cigars box. Exclusively hand-rolled using long filler since 2002, they are also only sold in aluminum tubes. These are the shortest of the of the No. series by the brand, smaller than the more famous No.2. It has the brand's unmistakable taste, flowery and woody aromas, mixed with fruits, and sweet tobacco, with a mild to medium body. The Romeo y Julieta Regalias de Londres is an affordable and medium bodied Coronitas, of 40 ring gauge, 4.6” (117mm) long and comes in a box of 25 cigars. It is a short smoke (40 minutes on average) and yet it delivers complex and very balanced flavors. There are a lot of herbal notes, some wood, nuts, coffee and some caramel notes. The Saint Luis Rey Pura Vida is a 2020 Costa Rica Exclusive Regional Edition cigar, a 4.72” (120 mm) by 54 ring gauge, and comes in a box of 10 cigars. Only 6,000 boxes have been made in Cuba, so it is a cigar that will be hard to find very shortly. Similar in size as the previous Costa Rica and Nicaragua Regional Exclusive Habano in 2017 (the Ramon Allones Nuevo Mundo), it is of Magnum 54 vitola, a highly praised format in the region. Named Pura Vida after the popular local saying that is used to wish someone’s happiness at the end or at the beginning of a conversation. Entirely hand rolled with tobacco grown in the Vuelta Abajo region, this is a beautiful cigar, very comparable to the highly acclaimed and now discontinued Saint Luis Rey Serie A. The Pura Vida will certainly get even better after some aging, so do not miss your chance to get this little gem while available.
