The Romeo y Julieta Maravillas 8 is a 2020 special released Habano, a 6.1” (155mm) by 55 ring gauge, and comes in a luxury box of 8 cigars. It is celebrating the Chinese zodiac calendar, 2020 being the year of the Rat, which symbolizes wealth and surplus. The number 8 is considered a lucky number in the Chinese culture and appeals to the Chinese market with its beautiful red lacquered luxury box (red is the symbol of good fortune and joy), with some golden touches (a stylized golden rat), which color refers to wealth. Released for the Asian market, the Maravillas 8 cigar is shaped into a Maravillas No.3 vitola de galera, the same used by the Montecristo 520, a 2012 Limited Edition.

The Romeo y Julieta Linea de Oro Hidalgos, part of the new top tier segment of the brand, is a delicious Robusto, which comes in a box of 20 cigars. The “Linea de Oro”, literally the “golden line” in Spanish is the pendant of the Maduro 5 line for the Cohiba, the top of the crop among the Romeo y Julieta brand, launched to celebrate the brand's 145th anniversary. Habanos released three totally new cigars, which are among the biggest ring gauge cigars available among Habanos, the Hidalgos, the Nobles and Dianas. The Hidalgos vitola (also called Hidalgos), is 57 ring gauge by 4 ⅞ inches and, as the other two, comes in a refined high lacquered box of 20 cigars. One can right away see that these cigars are different from the regular production line, as the box is painted in a very elegant red and gold colors, adorned with an embossed golden medallion on the lid, representing the classic balcony scene. Each cigar comes with a specific Linea de Oro band with the name of the cigar as well as a secondary golden band at the foot. The Hidalgos, Nobles and Dianas are all stronger than the regular Romeo y Julieta cigars, their strength around medium to full. The Romeo y Julieta Hermosos No.2 Limited Edition 2004 is a bold medium-full Grand Corona, 6.2” (157mm) long, of 48 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. It was released in 2004 as part of the Limited Edition series. A toothy and bold cigar, with flavors of coffee, cedar and earth and strong barnyard aromas. The Romeo y Julieta Exhibicion No.4 is a rich and elegant strong Corona Extra, with 48 ring gauge, 5" (127mm) long and comes in a box of 50 cigars. It similar to the Petit Coronas from the same brand, and full of flavors. It has obviously some familiarity with the other Marevas from Romeo y Julieta. It reveals some earthy, woody aromas, and also a good amount of leather and some hints of spice on the tongue. The Romeo y Julieta Club Kings is a medium Petit Corona cigar of 42 ring gauge, part of the Habanos Línea Retro series announced in 2017. Initially planned in 2011, it was finally released in 2018 after years of waiting. The original Club King from Romeo y Julieta was discontinued in the 1980s to the dismay of many aficionados. The Romeo y Julieta Cedros De Luxe No.3 is a smooth and rich Petit Corona Habano, 5.1” (129mm) long, of 42 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. It comes wrapped in a thin cedar tube sporting the usual Romeo y Julieta band. A pretty underrated cigar, but favored by Cuban aficionados that like it when it is aged. Lots cedar flavors, leather and nice white pepper notes. It has a great construction, perfect draw, and burn. The Romeo y Julieta Belvederes a lovely medium bodied Habano, of short panetela format, with 39 ring gauge, 4.9” (125mm) long and comes in a box of 25 cigars. It is of great construction, hand rolled using only premium tobacco grown in the best tobacco growing region of Vuelta Abajo in Cuba. It packs all the typical Romeo y Julieta flavors, lots of wood and cedar, floral notes and plenty of spices and pepper. The smoke is very round, doesn’t have rough edges never aggressive.
