Cuban Cigars

Presented in 18-count boxes, the Cohiba Siglo de Oro boasts dimensions of 4.5 inches by 54 ring gauge, introducing a novel vitola within both the Cohiba and Habanos portfolios, named Éxitosos.

In a dual celebration, Habanos S.A., the Cuban cigar distributor, introduces the Cohiba Siglo de Oro, a fresh offering that pays homage to the Lunar New Year while commemorating the 30th anniversary of the iconic Línea 1492, also recognized as the “Siglo Series.” This special release not only marks the advent of the new year but also honors the three-decade legacy of the Linea 1492, a cornerstone of Cohiba’s success.

Following the tradition initiated in 2019 with the Romeo y Julieta Maravillas No.8 (Year of the Rat), the Cohiba Siglo de Oro stands as the fourth release by Habanos S.A. crafted in celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year, which is the year of the Rabbit.

Only 18,888 boxes have been crafted, a number symbolizing luck in Chinese culture due to the significance of the number 8. Each box bears a unique serial number displayed on a golden badge inside the lid, alongside an NFC chip. This cutting-edge technology allows users to scan the box with their smartphones for instant authentication and access to additional information about the cigars. Remarkably, this marks the first instance of NFC technology being integrated into a Cuban cigar box, functioning seamlessly even through the closed wooden box and outer packaging.

Additionally, a secondary band adorns each of these new Cohibas, representing the Year of the Rabbit, the current animal in the Chinese zodiac. The phrase "Year of the Rabbit" is also imprinted on the intricately designed, beveled box, along with a stylized logo commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Línea 1492 brand. While 2023 officially marked the Year of the Rabbit, it's worth noting that the Línea 1492 brand was introduced in 1992, making this anniversary celebration slightly delayed.

The Cohiba Coronas Especiales is an elegant premium medium to full Laguito No.2, of 38 ring gauge, 6" (152mm) long and comes in a box of 25 cigars. The Trinidad Reyes is a smooth and flavorful medium-bodied Petit Corona, 4.3” (110mm) long, of 40 ring gauge, and comes in 5 packs of 5 cigars. Due to its short format and its smaller ring gauge, the Trinidad Reyes might feel harsher than other Trinidad vitolas, but it is definitely from the same brand as the flavors are typical Trinidad. The Trinidad Coloniales is an elegant Cuban cigar, a medium-bodied Corona, 5.2” (132mm) long, of 44 ring gauge, and comes in 5 packs of 5 cigars. It has great construction; its beautiful nice pigtail at the end of it is the perfect illustration. It is a very complex and rich Habano, made for aficionados of cigar full of aroma. The Trinidad Casilda Colección Habanos is a La Casa Del Habanos exclusive release, a 7.28” (185mm) by 53, and comes in a book-shaped box of 24 cigars. Released in 2019, this is the perfect collectors’ item as its supply is surely very rare, being sold exclusively at La Casa Del Habanos stores and as only 3,000 boxes have been produced, each box being numbered from 1 to 3,000. As it is part of the Colección Habanos, it comes in a mandatory and very elegant book-shaped wooden cabinet, which never offered that many cigars except the “Obras Completas” Edition (released in 2011) which holds 30 cigars. As expected is among the pricier cigars out of Cuba.

The cigar itself is also unique; being of Sobresalientes No.2 vitola (Double Robusto shape), it is a massive cigar, perfectly rolled with tobacco grown in the Vuelta Abajo region. As every Trinidad cigar, the triple cap ends with the typical Trinidad pigtail.

The San Cristobal La Punta is a creamy and rich medium bodied Pyramid, 5.5” (140mm) long, of 52 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. Launched by Habanos in 1999, it is hand rolled using only tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region. It gets its name from one of the fortress of La Habana that used to defend the city during the Spanish Latin America Empire times. Despite its lack of fame, it is definitely a cigar that worth a try. Like other vitolas from the San Cristobal marca, La Punta cigar is pretty smooth, medium range in strength, overall very creamy and which develops a nice complexity of flavors along the whole smoke. There is plenty of leather, wood, barnyard, hay, nuts, toasty aromas, fruits notes, some chocolate, and some coffee. There is a delicious sweetness along the whole cigar too. The San Cristobal La Fuerza is a smooth and complex medium bodied Robusto Extra, 4.3” (141mm) long, of 50 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. Its unusual shape, longer than a Robusto, with a thick ring gauge, makes it longer to smoke, and lets you enjoy its medium body for a longer time. It is a creamy smoke with great toasty and black coffee aromas, along with some sweet molasses. The San Cristóbal de La Habana 20 Aniversario, a La Casa del Habano exclusive release, is 6.3” (162mm) by 52 ring gauge, and comes in a humidor of 20 cigars. Its official vitola name is the Capuleto, of Double Robusto size, only used once before by Hababanos with the Romeo y Julieta De Luxe Edición Limitada of 2013. First announced in 2019 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the brand launched in 1999, the San Cristobal de La Habana 20 Aniversario only hit the shelves in late 2020, and is sold exclusively in La Casa del Habanos stores around the world. This is the third LCDH exclusive release from San Cristóbal, after the Mercaderes and the Murallas released in the mid 00’s and now discontinued. Habanos really stepped up their presentation with these cigars, as they come in a beautiful pirate’s treasure chest shaped humidor, with a mix of light and dark woods. The cigars themselves are looking amazing, massive in size but tightly packed and virtually flawless. In addition to the usual San Cristóbal band, there is also a second band, reserved to the “La Casa del Habano” exclusive cigars. The Saint Luis Rey Lonsdales is a mild-medium bodied and very aromatic Cervantes, 6.5” (165mm) long, of 42 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. These are aged cigars. The box code that we have in stock are: APE-MAY-01. Discontinued since 2006, its mains flavors are of hay, honey, chocolate, tobacco with a pinch of spices.
