It is surely a Robusto to place among the top 5, and in direct competition to Ramon Allones. It is a medium-to-strong flavor cigar, very rich with lots of woody and earthy flavors, and some spicy touch. The Romeo y Julieta Linea de Oro Nobles, part of the new top tier segment of the brand, is a delightful Pyramid, which comes in a box of 20 cigars. The “Linea de Oro”, literally the “golden line” in Spanish is the pendant of the Maduro 5 line for the Cohiba, the top of the crop among the Romeo y Julieta brand, launched to celebrate the brand's 145th anniversary. Habanos released three totally new cigars, which are among the biggest ring gauge cigars available among Habanos, the Hidalgos, the Nobles and Dianas. The Nobles vitola is called a Triangulares, 56 ring gauge by 5 ⅜ inches and, as the other two, comes in a refined high lacquered box of 20 cigars. One can right away see that these cigars are different from the regular production line, as the box is painted in a very elegant red and gold colors, adorned with an embossed golden medallion on the lid, representing the classic balcony scene. Each cigar comes with a specific Linea de Oro band with the name of the cigar as well as a secondary golden band at the foot. The Hidalgos, Nobles and Dianas are all stronger than the regular Romeo y Julieta cigars, their strength around medium to full. The Montecristo No.3 is the missing link in Montecristo’s lineup, of Corona format, of 42 ring gauge, 5.6” (142mm) long and comes in a box 25 cigars. It is slightly bigger than the Montecristo No.4 but smaller than the No.1, two very famous cigars. Therefore, it creates a bridge between the two, it has the same ring gauge as the No.4 but slightly longer. It benefits from the usual Montecristo quality and flavor profile, lots of coffee, earthiness and wood. It is a beautiful Corona that can both appeal to experimented smokers and to the beginners. The Hoyo du Maire is part of Le Hoyo Series and is of Small Panetela/Entreactos format, 30 ring gauge and 3.9 inches (100mm) in length. This cigar is part of the Le Hoyo series, a special series made for a Swiss distributor in the years 1940's and, as the cigars from this series, is pretty different than other Hoyo de Monterrey. The Hoyo du Maire, is a medium to full flavored cigar, with tobacco and wood as main flavors. There are also lots of toasted aromas, and notes of leather, cream and a bit of tea notes. Despite being a pretty short smoke, not more than half an hour, but still manages to provide the typical Cuban "twang" with a lot of complexity, while never being over powerful.
