The Romeo y Julieta Linea de Oro Nobles, part of the new top tier segment of the brand, is a delightful Pyramid, which comes in a box of 20 cigars. The “Linea de Oro”, literally the “golden line” in Spanish is the pendant of the Maduro 5 line for the Cohiba, the top of the crop among the Romeo y Julieta brand, launched to celebrate the brand's 145th anniversary. Habanos released three totally new cigars, which are among the biggest ring gauge cigars available among Habanos, the Hidalgos, the Nobles and Dianas. The Nobles vitola is called a Triangulares, 56 ring gauge by 5 ⅜ inches and, as the other two, comes in a refined high lacquered box of 20 cigars. One can right away see that these cigars are different from the regular production line, as the box is painted in a very elegant red and gold colors, adorned with an embossed golden medallion on the lid, representing the classic balcony scene. Each cigar comes with a specific Linea de Oro band with the name of the cigar as well as a secondary golden band at the foot. The Hidalgos, Nobles and Dianas are all stronger than the regular Romeo y Julieta cigars, their strength around medium to full. Announced in 2021 but released in October 2022, The Montecristo Wide Edmundo (4 ⅞ inches by 54 ring gauge) is akin to a fat robusto and part of the current production line-up. The Montecristo No.3 is the missing link in Montecristo’s lineup, of Corona format, of 42 ring gauge, 5.6” (142mm) long and comes in a box 25 cigars. It is slightly bigger than the Montecristo No.4 but smaller than the No.1, two very famous cigars. Therefore, it creates a bridge between the two, it has the same ring gauge as the No.4 but slightly longer. It benefits from the usual Montecristo quality and flavor profile, lots of coffee, earthiness and wood. It is a beautiful Corona that can both appeal to experimented smokers and to the beginners. The Montecristo No.1 is of Lonsdale format, or Cervantes, 42 ring gauge and 6.5 inches (165mm) in length. As opposed to No.2 and the No.4, the No.1 is little known, and this is a shame because this little stogie packs a true Montecristo experience in a perfectly rolled cigar. It is also a pretty strong smoke, oscillating between a medium and a medium to full bodied cigar. It is nevertheless very creamy and smooth. There are lots of earth, cedar, tobacco flavors as you would expect from a Cuban cigar, but there are also many other flavors, such as strong nuts, all kind fruits, some citrus, chocolate, vanilla. Everything works well together; the balance of flavors is always under control. This is a cigar that worth a try, especially when it is 2 years of age. En savoir plus
