Cuban Cigars

The Hoyo du Maire is part of Le Hoyo Series and is of Small Panetela/Entreactos format, 30 ring gauge and 3.9 inches (100mm) in length. This cigar is part of the Le Hoyo series, a special series made for a Swiss distributor in the years 1940's and, as the cigars from this series, is pretty different than other Hoyo de Monterrey. The Hoyo du Maire, is a medium to full flavored cigar, with tobacco and wood as main flavors. There are also lots of toasted aromas, and notes of leather, cream and a bit of tea notes. Despite being a pretty short smoke, not more than half an hour, but still manages to provide the typical Cuban "twang" with a lot of complexity, while never being over powerful. The Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure de Luxe LCDH is a light yet rich Magico, 4.5” (115mm) long, of 52 ring gauge, and comes in a 10 cigars box. In 2012 Hoyo de Monterrey, one of the oldest Habanos brand, decided to launch an exclusive line for La casa del Habano, and released the Epicure de Luxe. It is only using tobacco from the most valuable area in Cuba, the famous Vuelta Abajo. This smoke packs all the typical Hoyo de Monterrey’s flavours into a small yet exclusive cigar, that is comparable to the 2012 Limited Editions, but which is cheaper than these. The construction is superb, it is fully handmade, its high level of quality is on par with any cigar out of La Casa del Habanos. On the flavor profile, it is rather light in taste yet shows a great level of complexity and control of aromas. The H.Upmann Magnum 46 is a Cuban classic, a rich and complex medium-full Coronas Gorda, 5.6” (143mm) long, of 46 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. It is one of the most popular cigars of the brand with huge aging potential, with a strong following. Sadly The H. Upmann Magnum 46 is not as popular as it should be. The Cuaba Tradicionales is a delicious medium-full Habano, of Favoritos format, 4.7” (120mm) long, of 42 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. The Cuaba Tradicionales is where it all started for the Cuaba brand; this vitola inspired all their other vitolas. For this reason, it is as smooth as the other four formats and the same kind of wrapper and texture. For a tapered cigar, its size is right for providing the best draw and combustion. The Cuaba Distinguidos is an elegant and exceptional medium to full Habano, of 52 ring gauge, 6.4” (162mm) long and comes in a box of 10 cigars. As each Cuaba cigar, this vitola stands out from the crowd being an elegant double figurado, reminiscent of the cigars famous in the 1900s. It is not a flat cigar, but instead it is bulging around the foot and its both ends are tapered in a pigtail manner; however the tails have been cut off. The Cohiba Siglo I is an outstanding Cuban smoke, a rich and smooth Petit Corona, of 40 ring gauge, 4" (102mm) long and comes in a box of 25 cigars. This is the shortest cigar in the Linea 1492.This small format Habano, short and thin gauge, is a quick smoke. The burn is even and nice. A perfect choice for a short break.
