Cuban Cigars

The San Cristobal La Punta is a creamy and rich medium bodied Pyramid, 5.5” (140mm) long, of 52 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. Launched by Habanos in 1999, it is hand rolled using only tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region. It gets its name from one of the fortress of La Habana that used to defend the city during the Spanish Latin America Empire times. Despite its lack of fame, it is definitely a cigar that worth a try. Like other vitolas from the San Cristobal marca, La Punta cigar is pretty smooth, medium range in strength, overall very creamy and which develops a nice complexity of flavors along the whole smoke. There is plenty of leather, wood, barnyard, hay, nuts, toasty aromas, fruits notes, some chocolate, and some coffee. There is a delicious sweetness along the whole cigar too. The Sancho Panza Belicosos is a smooth and tasty medium-full bodied Pyramid, 5.5” (140mm) long, of 52 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. Sancha Panza, an old Habanos brand whereas not being the most famous, is known for several great vitolas , such as the Belicosos and the Molinos that were very popular one century ago. Thankfully, the Belicosos is still around and available. It is a praised cigar among aficionados of Habanos. The Sancho Panza Non Plus is a delightful and creamy medium bodied Petit Corona, 5.1” (129mm) long, of 42 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. It is somewhat close to a Vegas Robaina Familiar in taste. It presents a nice mix of flavors in the palate, such as earth, wood, peat, leather (quite salty and dank flavors), but there is also some sweetness of cocoa, vanilla, chocolate and some fruity notes of raisin, and hints of oatmeal. For such an attractive price, it would be a miss not to try this Habanos. It can be a bit young and powerful, but overtime, after 2 or 3 years of ageing, the flavors will be magnified.
