The Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.1 is a smooth Habano, a rich Corona Gorda, 5.6” (143mm) long, of 46 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. It is a cigar of the next to perfect construction; the wrapper is smooth and slightly oily. It is smoking beautifully and the draw on this cigar is flawless. On top of that, the flavor profile of this stogie is incredible. Definitely a must-try for all the fans of Corona Gorda vitolas. There are flavors of wood, earth, hay and nuts. There is also lots of creamy espresso, and some mineral notes. It might not be the most complex cigar, but it nevertheless won’t let you indifferent. Some delicate touches of pepper also spice up the Epicure No.1, whereas in terms of strength, it never goes over a medium body. The Hoyo de San Juan from Hoyo de Monterrey is a tasty Habano, of Geniales format, of 54 ring gauge and 5.9” (150mm) long and comes in a 10 cigars cabinet. Released at the 2014 Habanos Festival, this big ring gauge cigar is reminiscent of the old brand, but with a modern twist that appeal to many big ring gauges aficionados. It sports a new band which reads “Serie Le Hoyo” but as any Hoyo de Monterrey, it is hand rolled only using tobacco from San Juan y Martínez district, where the brand was born in 1865. It is of light to medium flavor, very aromatic and rich smoke. One of the best Hoyo out there. Has a great potential for aging, which would make it even smoother. En savoir plus

The Hoyo du Maire is part of Le Hoyo Series and is of Small Panetela/Entreactos format, 30 ring gauge and 3.9 inches (100mm) in length. This cigar is part of the Le Hoyo series, a special series made for a Swiss distributor in the years 1940's and, as the cigars from this series, is pretty different than other Hoyo de Monterrey. The Hoyo du Maire, is a medium to full flavored cigar, with tobacco and wood as main flavors. There are also lots of toasted aromas, and notes of leather, cream and a bit of tea notes. Despite being a pretty short smoke, not more than half an hour, but still manages to provide the typical Cuban "twang" with a lot of complexity, while never being over powerful. A very nice Corona, that has a strong woodsy flavor, coupled with a subtle spiciness. The Montecristo No.3 is the missing link in Montecristo’s lineup, of Corona format, of 42 ring gauge, 5.6” (142mm) long and comes in a box 25 cigars. It is slightly bigger than the Montecristo No.4 but smaller than the No.1, two very famous cigars. Therefore, it creates a bridge between the two, it has the same ring gauge as the No.4 but slightly longer. It benefits from the usual Montecristo quality and flavor profile, lots of coffee, earthiness and wood. It is a beautiful Corona that can both appeal to experimented smokers and to the beginners.
