The Bolivar New Gold Medal LCDH is a 2023 La Casa Del Habano exclusive release. A Grand Corona of 6½” (165mm) by 48 ring gauge, and comes in a box of 10 cigars wrapped in gold foil. Sharing the same vitola as the Montecristo No.1 (Cervantes), the Bolivar Gold Medal was initially discontinued in 1992. However, it made a comeback in 2004 exclusively for La Casa Del Habano Germany, with only 1000 boxes produced. In 2007, it was re-released as a La Casa Del Habano exclusive but was later discontinued in 2011. In 2023, a new version was introduced—the New Gold Medal. While maintaining the same length as its predecessor, it now boasts a larger ring gauge, adopting the Partagas 15 vitola, similar to the Ramon Allones Imperiales. According to Habanos S.A., the Bolívar New Gold Medal is hailed as one of the finest Habanos in the current selection, renowned for its full flavor, strength, and body. Its distinctive earthy essence is a defining feature, complemented by spicy, fruity, and roasted tobacco notes. The amalgamation of these nuanced flavors has elevated it to the status of a new cult favorite among Habanos enthusiasts. The Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.1 is a smooth Habano, a rich Corona Gorda, 5.6” (143mm) long, of 46 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. It is a cigar of the next to perfect construction; the wrapper is smooth and slightly oily. It is smoking beautifully and the draw on this cigar is flawless. On top of that, the flavor profile of this stogie is incredible. Definitely a must-try for all the fans of Corona Gorda vitolas. There are flavors of wood, earth, hay and nuts. There is also lots of creamy espresso, and some mineral notes. It might not be the most complex cigar, but it nevertheless won’t let you indifferent. Some delicate touches of pepper also spice up the Epicure No.1, whereas in terms of strength, it never goes over a medium body. The Partagas Presidentes is a beautiful and strong figurado, of Taco format, 47 ring gauge, 6.2” (158mm) long and comes in a box of 25 cigars. This figurado from Partagas is not very well known. This cigar is one of the rare competitors of the Cuabas. From its odd dimensions, close to a Julieta (same gauge but slightly shorter), it seems to be of strong flavor, and it is. The Partagas Serie D No.5 is a powerful yet creamy medium-full Petit Robusto, 4.3” (110mm) long, of 50 ring gauge, and comes in a box of 25 cigars. First released as a Limited Edition in 2008 and due to its immense success and popularity as an Edicion Limitada, it was later also released as a regular production cigar. The Romeo y Julieta Exhibicion No.4 is an exquisite and complex Corona Extra, with 48 ring gauge, 5" (127mm) long and comes in a box of 25 cigars. It similar to the Petit Coronas from the same brand, and full of flavors. It has obviously some familiarity with the other Marevas from Romeo y Julieta. It reveals some earthy, woody aromas, and also a good amount of leather and some hints of spice on the tongue. The construction is wonderful, it is a beautiful hand rolled stogie, and the packaging, the magnificent aluminum tube, makes it a cigar that every cigar enthusiast should have in his humidor. The Saint Luis Rey Pura Vida is a 2020 Costa Rica Exclusive Regional Edition cigar, a 4.72” (120 mm) by 54 ring gauge, and comes in a box of 10 cigars. Only 6,000 boxes have been made in Cuba, so it is a cigar that will be hard to find very shortly. Similar in size as the previous Costa Rica and Nicaragua Regional Exclusive Habano in 2017 (the Ramon Allones Nuevo Mundo), it is of Magnum 54 vitola, a highly praised format in the region. Named Pura Vida after the popular local saying that is used to wish someone’s happiness at the end or at the beginning of a conversation. Entirely hand rolled with tobacco grown in the Vuelta Abajo region, this is a beautiful cigar, very comparable to the highly acclaimed and now discontinued Saint Luis Rey Serie A. The Pura Vida will certainly get even better after some aging, so do not miss your chance to get this little gem while available.

The San Cristobal La Fuerza is a smooth and complex medium bodied Robusto Extra, 4.3” (141mm) long, of 50 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. Its unusual shape, longer than a Robusto, with a thick ring gauge, makes it longer to smoke, and lets you enjoy its medium body for a longer time. It is a creamy smoke with great toasty and black coffee aromas, along with some sweet molasses. The San Cristobal La Punta is a creamy and rich medium bodied Pyramid, 5.5” (140mm) long, of 52 ring gauge, and comes in a 25 cigars box. Launched by Habanos in 1999, it is hand rolled using only tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region. It gets its name from one of the fortress of La Habana that used to defend the city during the Spanish Latin America Empire times. Despite its lack of fame, it is definitely a cigar that worth a try. Like other vitolas from the San Cristobal marca, La Punta cigar is pretty smooth, medium range in strength, overall very creamy and which develops a nice complexity of flavors along the whole smoke. There is plenty of leather, wood, barnyard, hay, nuts, toasty aromas, fruits notes, some chocolate, and some coffee. There is a delicious sweetness along the whole cigar too. The Trinidad Reyes is a smooth and complex Habano, a medium-bodied Petit Corona, 4.3” (110mm) long, of 40 ring gauge, and comes in a 24 cigars box. Due to its short format and its smaller ring gauge, the Trinidad Reyes might feel harsher than other Trinidad vitolas, but it is definitely from the same brand as the flavors are typical Trinidad.
