The cigar is coming with a white paper sleeve. Once removed, the cigar looks pretty good. The wrapper is rather bumpy, but smooth, slightly veiny, the cap is beautiful. The wrapper has a nice light brown color.
Smoking Notes:
Before lighting up
The wrapper exhales some sweet aromas of honey and milk coffee. There are also notes of pepper and stone fruit.
Burn/ Draw
Once the cap clipped, the draw is great, just a bit on the tight side, hopefully it opens up slightly in the first third. The pre-light draw reveals aromas of tobacco, hints of coffee and some sweet spice note. Upon lighting the cigar, mild flavors are reaching the palate, some grass, more sweetness, like honey, and some wood. The burn is sharp, and does not require any attention throughout the smoke. The ash holds on for about one and half inch and the smoke has a very sweet aspect as well.
Initial third:
The first third of the cigar is starting very mild in body, slowly reaching medium body. The dominant flavors are of mild tobacco, milk coffee, and lots of sweet notes, fruits, earth. There are also some notes of pepper, cinnamon, burnt wood and some hay and barnyard. The smoke is plentiful and very creamy and sweet.
Middle third:
In the middle third, the flavor profile is similar to the one developed in the first third, there is now more wood, grass/hay, tobacco and also a darker coffee note, while the sweetness wanes. The spice and the pepper creeps up just a bit, but not overwhelming. The flavors are still mild, while the body of the cigar is now in the medium range. The amount of smoke released by each draw is now even more abundant and thicker. Overall, the cigar and the smoke are very creamy.
Final third:
In the final third, the intensity of the cigar increases a bit more, now sitting well into the medium body range. The dominant flavors in the final third are of leather, black pepper, tobacco. There are also notes of smoke, tar and also some nuts, like marzipan. The flavors are never overpowering, and it is delicious until the end.
In summary, it is a perfect morning smoke or afternoon smoke for a beginner. Mild and light, with a nice Cuban flavor profile.
